Safety Policy

Date last updated: September 12, 2025

  1. General Statement

You acknowledge that the Arc machine has various components designed to eject a ball at high speeds at a target. There are inherent risks in operating such a device. Parts may become loose if not checked frequently and threaten persons and property. The machine also utilizes electricity to use and, as such, may pose a risk of shock to any individual in its proximity. You may risk your safety, or the safety of others, if you use the Arc machine in ways it was not intended. Do not ignore the safety and warning information, as misuse or incorrect use may result in property damage, severe personal injury or death.

TO SHUT DOWN THE MAIN FRAME AT ANY TIME, USE THE RED POWER SWITCH ON THE ELECTRICAL BOX.

TO SHUT DOWN THE GANTRY AT ANY TIME, USE THE RED E-STOP BUTTON ON THE VENTION CONTROLLER.

2. Do Not's: Operation

Do not, under any circumstances, do any of the following:

  • Go under the mainframe of the machine without appropriate support structures or braces in place

    • if you drop an item under the machine, consider the use of a proper device to retrieve the item

  • Walk in front of the machine if it is powered up.

  • Mix ball types in the hopper - only one type of ball can be loaded at a time. Ensure correct ball type is selected in the machine interface (web application).

  • Use scuffed, damaged or excessively warped balls in the machine

  • Use non-approved extension cords to power up the machine

    • The Arc must be plugged into a wall socket or equivalent grounded outlet

    • Extension cords should be the smallest possible length for your given set-up to reduce fire risk

  • Hold on to or lean against any component of the machine or allow anything else to lean on the machine

  • Excessively shake or rock the machine

  • Train new pitch characteristics while the batter is at the plate

  • Utilize any ball type that is not otherwise approved

  • Allow minors to be recipients of pitches without consent from their guardians or handle the machine in any manner

  • Postpone or delay any scheduled maintenance on your Arc to maintain optimal function

  • Pull aggressively on any wires for risk of damage

3. Do's: Operation

For the safety of the operator and any person and property in the vicinity of the machine, you agree that all persons will:

  • Sample a test pitch you plan on using in session before any people stand in the batters’ box

  • When working with a powered-up machine, wear a batting helmet or equivalent head protection

  • The machine must be connected to a properly grounded electrical receptacle

  • Ensure the machine is completely assembled and in reasonable condition before connecting it to a power source

  • Use new or undamaged balls with no scuffs or abrasions with the machine

  • Anytime the machine is connected to a power source, keep hands and any other item on a person away from throwing wheels

  • Always test and adjust the Arc before a batter receives any balls from the machine

  • Take all standard precautions that being around a pitching machine reasonably demands, including:

    • Standing behind a protective screen to prevent injury from balls off the bat

    • Upon observation of abnormal machine function, notify customer service before continuing use.

    • Only place compatible balls into the machine which have no significant tears or abnormalities

    • Keep hands away from throwing wheels anytime the machine is connected to a power source.

  • An experienced machine operator should review the Safety Policy before a batter steps up to the batter’s box.

  • While the batter must wear batting helmets, additional safety gear to protect the body, such as elbow guards and ankle guards, is also recommended.

  • Check that no components have been unplugged from the machine before connecting to electrical power.

4. Adverse Conditions

  1. In the event of rain: ensure the machine is not exposed to the elements

  2. In the event of high winds, be cautious of plate location deviance

  3. In case of any incident (e.g. tipping over or blunt force application to machine) where you suspect the machine performance could have been compromised: alert customer service before continuing use.

5. Machine Function

If you observe the following, please disconnect the machine immediately and call customer support:

  • Smoke coming from any part of the machine

  • Cracks in any part or casing

  • Bent parts or casing

  • Puncture in any part of the machine

  • Frayed cables

  • Squealing or other non-standard noises

  • Shock upon touch of any machine part
